Olympia Plana Wartime Bakelite Typewriter AS-IS
is on back order
Olympia-plana Bakelite typewriter dates to roughly 1940 or 1941, serial number 14762. The Bakelite is in good condition but the typewriter needs some tinkering. 1 ; key is missing the connecting wire, so it does not type at all. The 7) key 3M key, kK key and the öÖ key all stick up a bit. I can not diagnose a problem for why the striker does not fully return. The 7) key is the worst offender and does interfere with it's neighbors from time to time. It has its original box but it is beat up and needs a lot of work. The catch portion is broken. There is a segment of key stuck in the lock. In short, the case does not really close; you could salvage the parts from this case and use them to remount the typewriter in another case.
This is a super cool wartime typewriter that needs some loving but in the end would likely be the envy of your friends. It is still a bit dusty/dirty. There are some minor scratches and wear in the Bakelite. Some of the functions are a little different from most other typewriters so it will take some getting used to. For example, the way you set the travel limits is a bit odd, you move little steel tabs up or down in the back. The triangle view finder is broken at one side and is interfering with the ribbon mechanism a little. It could maybe be completely removed or repaired.
